Rich and complex, the 2019 vintage delivers aromas of jasmine and grapefruit that are a lovely counterpoint to its distinctive briny character. A finely structured, sophisticated wine, Cos d’Estournel Blanc 2019 has exceptional cellaring potential.

(09-1994) Burgundy red color. Dark. Good intensity. Slight evolution. Young. Nose of medium intensity. Fruit nuances associated with a note of undergrowth reminiscent of a bouquet. Quite linden. Clean and soft attack developing on a round structure, which tastes like tobacco. Slow, very well-balanced tannic evolution, towards a powerful and spicy finish where the grain of the tannin is coated. Good spicy length. Can be drunk. In my opinion keep it a bit. Well made wine.

Cos d’Estournel is typically a blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 38% Merlot and 2% Cabernet Franc – do not be fooled by the relatively high Merlot content, as these are full-bodied, dark, brooding tannic wines when young which develop a complexity and intensity that can rival many top growths from Pauillac.
